Every so often someone contacts me with an interesting idea relating to my images; amongst them there’s a kitchen splashback that sounds amazing, a book cover, Aboriginal language flashcards, informative signage, university research papers and artwork.
Superb Fairy-wren on Correa reflexa – artist Valda Jenkins (original fairy-wren image by Kim Wormald)
Valda Jenkins contacted me a while ago asking permission to use my images in her botantical artwork. I was happy to give permission and thrilled when Valda forwarded images of her beautiful work.
The original fairy-wren image that Valda worked from can be seen at Canon 5D Mark III.
Striated Thornbill on Correa baeuerlenii- artist Valda Jenkins (original thornbill image by Kim Wormald)
I might not be right about the correa species, please correct me if I’m mistaken – in the original images the birds were not on correa species. Correa reflexa is commonly known as the native fuchsia, Correa baeuerlenii is Chef’s Hat Correa. The original Striated Thornbill image can be seen at Tiny Thornbills.
The group of artists that Valda paints with are considering holding an exhibition next year, if it eventuates I will post details. Many thanks to Valda for her willingness to share her paintings on lirralirra and for honouring these little birds with her talent.
Happy birding, and painting, Kim
