I enjoy working with the late afternoon light, when the background is in shadow and a bird, serendipitously, arrives on the scene.
New Holland Honeyeaters are active little honeyeaters that are mainly black and white with bright yellow wing patches that are just visible in this shot. They have small white whiskers and ear patches, and white eyes (apart from younger birds which have grey eyes). They are often comical to watch as they scrap with each other and take turns to bathe, splashing vigorously.
I think the lighting and pose in this photograph make this New Holland Honeyeater look more imposing and regal than they usually appear.
Happy birding, Kim

What a dramatic and lovely shot of this small charmer. Many, many thanks.
