Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo

This magnificent bird has so many beautiful feathers on its head, and a beady brown eye that looks wise and curious.

I almost forgot it’s Friday as I’ve been busily wrapping gifts. There is much excitement in the air as the little ones put out biscuits for Santa and carrots for his reindeer. There is much exhaustion in the air as adults mow and clean, and bake and wrap. I haven’t finished two of those activities so I must skedaddle or it’ll be time for breakfast before I get to sleep.

Thinking of you all, happy Christmas, happy holidays, happy birding, Kim

Hope you and yours have a fabulous Christmas Kim.

Thank-you for hosting us in your gardens and around the surrounding area this past year. It is such a peaceful space.

Happy birding in 2022 and keep those lirralirra posts coming.

    Very Best Wishes.

Hi Avril, sitting in my garden with you and Des’s other twitchers was one of few wonderful moments during the year. Today I saw two amazing sights right where we were sitting; I’m going to try to capture photographs to share, I hope I get to see them again.
Wishing you the very best, Kim

Merry Christmas from all your beautiful feathered friends who love to know you are capturing their beauty and uniqueness in your stunning photos and each and every one is a very special moment in time. This gorgeous bird I get to see flying, soaring and singing in bushland nearby and then stopping to enjoy a feast on one of their favourite trees. To see a flock flying across a blue sky is an amazing sight as their black wings are extended and flying in formation makes them look like a squadron of fighter jets speeding across the skies.
I wish you and your family and all those who love and protect our feathered friends a very Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing your gift of great photography as it has helped so many through very difficult times. Nothing makes you smile more than opening your email and seeing these beautiful birds in all their glory.
“In all things in nature there is something of the marvellous.” Aristotle and you capture it beautifully.
    Have a magic Christmas

It must be magnificent to see a flock of these birds in flight Barbara, with their red tails flashing.
Thank you for your kind words about my photography. These are certainly difficult times and I know I wouldn’t have coped so well (which isn’t particularly well) without my lirralirra family.
Your Aristotle quote is perfect, today I saw two wonderful sights in my garden, I’m going to try to capture photographs to share. I hope your Christmas was perfect, Kim

  • What a truly beautiful Christmas present. Thank you Kim. I do hope that you got some sleep and that your day (and all the days to come) is magnificent.
